Program Changes

Attention Community and/or Health Services Provider:

Beginning May 1, the Medical Assistance Administration will be holding an Open Enrollment for all DCHF/Medicaid and Alliance members.  There are three health plans that will be providing services: Unison Health Plan (new plan), Health Right and DC Chartered Health Plan.

Members for both programs will have the choice of selecting one of these health plans to provide services for them and for their children.  Current Health Right and Chartered members may stay in their plans if they do not wish to choose another plan.  They do not have to call us or complete a plan change form if they wish to remain in their current plan.  If they do wish to choose another health plan, they will have to fill out and submit a change form or call the Enrollment line by 6/2/08.  Current AMERIGROUP members must make a selection by 6/2/08 or a plan will automatically be selected for them.  DC HealthCare Alliance members must make a selection by 6/30/08 or a plan will also be selected for them.  Even if Alliance members wish to remain with their current health plan, they must contact the DC HealthCare Alliance Enrollment line to stay with that plan.

As a vital resource in the community, your help and the help of other community organizations and service providers is needed to help ensure that people learn about these changes to the Medicaid managed care program, and what they need to do to prevent any unintended change in their benefits.  We’ve enclosed posters and flyers to help communicate this change to your clients, customers or patients.  We ask that you:
  • Display the posters in areas of high visibility

  • Distribute or position the flyers in high traffic areas

  • Distribute the Plan Selection Form to your clients, customers or patients who are members.  This form allows them to express their intent, and can be mailed or faxed back to the Enrollment Office.  We will also arrange to pick-up these from your organization weekly

  • Refer any customer questions or inquiries to DC Healthy Families/DC HealthCare Alliance Enrollment Office at 202-639-4030

Again, your assistance in getting the word out will help to ensure that thousands of District residents can make the most of this enhancement to the managed care program right from the start!  For more information, please call Benito Springer at (202) 822-6440 ext. 1030.
